Hi there,

i had a job today where the customers underfloor heating stopped working.
i tested the mats and both were reading 32 ohms.
he had a spare controller stat so I changed it.
The stat sends 240v to the mats. But as it takes a while (he says it can take a good hour in his house) and with the could weather would probably be longer. So I left. (The customer is a friend)
he has just texted me saying that its still not working.

Any ideas??? What have I missed????

the only thing I can think of is the sensor?

Its puzzling me.

The sensor also has to match the thermostat too otherwise it will send it the wrong information so you need to measure the probe resistance and check what the thermostat needs
Luckily I've got the sensor which came with the stat. But as for replacing it, I haven't got a clue how I'm gonna do it as the previous spark has filled the cables in the wall with no cappin or conduit!!

Depending on the type of stat you have, its possible to reprogramme the stat to operate on air temprature only, this eliminates the floor sensor altogether and allows you to test the heating, if it still not working after that I think its the stat.
