First post here, not the best of introductions and not the best start to a sunday but vans been broken into last night and all they've taken were 2 wall chasers,a Hilti DC SE20 and Makita SG1250 so obviously someones been keeping an eye on the contents of the van.Basically just want to put it out there and if anyone hears of either of these being sold or anyone with newly acquired second hand ones in the london area, any help or leads to getting them back would be much appreciated and a reward coming their way.obviously the police aren't interested and nobody saw or heard anything, usual nonsense.

Sorry to hear of this but you need to go to the police and insist on a crime reference number you will find that the police are not interested because having a crime on the books screws their stats up why do you think reported crime is going down no CRN = no crime reported. Also if the police stop a vehicle that is carrying unreported stolen goods and there is no record on the police computer the goods may appear as legit and the scum are let on their way. Had many arguments with the police over this lack of interest in taking details and now always insist even if it means speaking to a senior officer or making a formal complaint.

May be worth checking all the auction sites to see if your items turn up

The police have been around and basically said that theres nothing they can do unless they find the people with the chasers, which lets be honest, isn't going to happen.the fingerprint team refused to even bother coming out,it is a joke.they said just check the usual things, auction sites, asking around etc i will be keeping a lookout but not holding out hope,i genuinely hope the people who stole it die, could get a job of their own but instead its easier to rob vans and make the likes of us pay.

But did you get a Crime Reference Number if you didn't your crime does not exist in the police system or their statistics if they happened to pull these thieves there is no record in the police system if there is no CRN that the goods in the thieves possession are possibly stolen so no arrests

Good point Kingeri. My van got broken into when i was working in Hackney 3 months ago I had a note of all the serial numbers on my phone. The police turned up with in 20 minutes and were very helpful. Check out gum tree.

scum of the earth, not only do they take your tools but it stops you from doing jobs where you require them. police arent interested cos they know youll have some sort of insurance so cant be arsed doing the paperwork.

Yeah they have to contact me with the crime refernce number apparently,i had a job number raised so it was logged on their computers, they took a statement and i assume will process that and raise a CRN at the same time.i wish i had a record of the serial numbers, even still they would need to physically find them, which, from the impression i got from them, doesn't happen often.looking like its going to have to go down as a lesson learnt.
