I installed 12v caravan mini fluorescent fittings. Each fitting has 2 x 8W mini fluorescent tubes, same as many emergency fittings. I installed a relay that is controlled by the interior light, ie everything comes on when the doors open. Each fitting also has it's own switch too. Very economical.

Here's one on ebay.

I have 3 in the back of my Vivaro, highly recommended. Ideal when you are on a late night call out looking for THAT fuse you know you have somewhere!

Is it possible to just wire these straight into exsisrimg rear van light? Or is it needed to install a fuse/ relay etc

You could use the existing wiring, as long as you know it will be able to support the load. Otherwise you could use the existing wiring to switch an additional circuit. You can buy automotive relays with built in fuses too BTW.

many moons ago when i had an escort van it was fitted with 2 swivel spot lights inside the back above the doors(the ones normally found on xr3's) they not only lit the inside if the van up but turn them round and you had half the street lit up too..

one of those self contained LED worklights in mine with a bloody strong magnet incorporated. just pull it off and take into attic when needed. 2 jobs for the price of 1.

Lee the thread is at least 4 years old so I'm closing it.
