Has anyone used these tool bags? Bloody expensive! My cousin has just text to say how cool they are, how they're the mutts. Not sure I could bring myself to that amount without seeing it first.

Oh, and...

Even in a one compartment toolbox it takes just seconds to find any tool. You're gonna have to do better than that to justify your tool bag tartery.

All the tools lay on top of one another and just end up damaged or a pain to find. The money isn't that big a deal really I mean if your a sparky your on good cash anyway? They last for atleast 5 years. £150 \5= £30 a year that's peanuts.

Not bad, but never have I had damaged tools using a tool box. And my £40 toolbox has lasted me more than 5 years up til now. And that's using it as a daily step ladder and lunch stool. I'd rather put towards power tools with that sort of money. My preference only you understand. I can appreciate some are into handbags.

Haha it's a shame they don't come in different colours

mine still looks brand new after a years abuse.

the joiner on one of the last jobs i was on has used the same veto bag for the last ten years and it doesnt look shabby

Electrical Dandies... lol!!

At ELEC in 2012 I was nearly wetting myself with laughter at the “dandies” in the latest designer workwear.

My two hand tool boxes are ammunition cases, indestructible. Still marked up “25 ROUNDS IN BATTON. INERT PROJECTILE”. Larger stuff went into a PIAT case.
They survived 12 years of being chucked about at the foundry. I’d like to see these new fancy bags cope with that.

if i worked at a place like that i would have a smaller bag/box and take what i need.

the only reason i got a veto is i have loads of different tools in there

Why? Nearly every job I went on I knew what I needed before I left the workshop.

It wasn’t often a box would go with me. Most of the things I needed were in the inside pockets of my jacket, (you’re not allowed external pockets as an iron splash could go in to it).

If a job needed extra tools it would be a major failure where heavyweight tools were needed.

Most things were sorted on the PLC, if needs be by changing the program to work around getting down and dirty in the machine. The machine would be put back to specification in downtime, the program put back “as was” at the same time.

because tony, we do.

re-wires of domestic,shops,offices and hospitals.

air handling units
door access
controls e.g. valves,sensors etc
metal+plastic containment; conduit, trunking, tray, basket etc

all soughts of different wiring; swa, belden, yy, sy, micc, cat5, fibre optic, fp including 2c, 17c etc.

usually we don't know what we are doing till we get there, we have turned up at jobs before just to have a look and ended up making do with minimum tools and gear

the problem we usually have is all the kit we use has different fixings, allan keys, security bits, torx, ph0 and ph2 from time to time as well.

to top it all off its usually a good half a mile walk and loads of stairs to the van, can easily spend 30-60mins on a round trip
