Visit to the doctors

I had cause to visit my doctors yesterday. While in the waiting room I noticed all the sockets had the child covers on. I got talking to the doctor about this in his consulting room and just to prove a point I took one of the covers off a socket at the side of his desk, upended it and shoved it in the earth and then showed him the open L / N shutters. He’s on the phone like a shot to the practice manager to come and have a look at it. Showed them the Fatally Flawed web site and left them to panic!

Got a (very small) job to do next week to replace two DSOs where the 'safety' plug pins have broken off inside the socket. Impossible to remove. Imagine if just the earth pin broke off - making the socket even more dangerous. I also recommend they be binned whenever I see them.

My girlfriends sister was told when pregnant to get them by the health visitor. I told her about them, but I don't think she believes me over the health visitor.

my pregnant wife has tried to get sisinlaw to remove them but her husband says "jimmy says you need these for the weans jimmys a farmer FFS my broInlaw is a PILLOCK

I still think the MK cam action shutters are the best. They take a determined effort to open even for someone that knows how they work.

Just before my son was born I found the wife going around the house counting the sockets to go and buy the things. “Oh no your not” I then got a screwdriver a tried to force it in a socket to prove they were safe. So then the sister in law shows up with a load of them! The bit that got to me was my brother was senior electrical engineer at a local company. I had to go through the whole rigmarole to convince him!

Electrical advise from health visitors, give us all a break!

My Mrs (now x Mrs..... Thank god) I think was given some free from Boots or mothercare....
She went round sticking them in the sockets...
Needless to say... They gradually vanished and were never replaced!!!

I still cant get over the fact that ofsted demand them, i hd a confrontation with an ofsted inspector the other week and showed them the fatally flawed website and another site and told her that the earth pin needs to be opened for live and neutral to but.... she still demanded them

You can remove them just drill with a 2mm HSS bit into the plastic then screw a drywall screw into the hole and pull out the plastic pin, I've had to do this on more than one occasion with mobile phone chargers breaking off there pins. Socket being turned off, of course

Missing the point. Fit and charge for new sockets, then reuse the old ones on another job.
