Hi

i've been asked to look into an existing voltage optimiser unit, and provide feedback on it whether or not it needs to be replaced. Is there anything i should particularly look out for? Customer also wants the info on size and type i assume this info will be on the VO?

Oh there is a blast from the past, they were used in the main to get correct voltage for fluorescent tubes as with the old wire wound ballast a small over voltage could result in power being used to nearly double.

However with electronic ballasts that problem vanished, and most other items now have switch mode power supplies, so rare to be still required.

There may be some odd times, when they as still required, where voltage is outside the normal permitted range, but today rare.

Is this a commercial or domestic unit? can you give a make or model number?
Hi Marvo,

Sorry for the late reply. it was a commercial unit the rating was 450kVA we didn't get a make unfortunately. It was a strange one, it was a new unit i'm not exactly why the customer wanted us to check it over but all access to it was from a key which was in a key box, when we called the company who installed it they refused to give us the keycode to access the key. So we had to leave it and walk away. Sadly, this now means I still know little about any maintenance required on them, i guess i will have to wait for the next one.
