that'll teach 'em to use copper feeding bottles and needles

yeah, and gossip about the best washing powder, the price of bacon and their boring husbands!.. I much prefer boats, cars and guns. I don't think I'm wired up right. :willy_nilly:

nah, just one of those rare commodities, a woman with a brain that's not full of shoes.

Bugger off you! :)

I might just ban you when your not looking :)

Oh ok I will settle for being a below average Mod, it seems to work for PaulM :sifone:

Come here Archy, let me put me over my knee and slap you purple!! Wash your mouth out with carbolic soap..... *spit* Mumsnet!!!

:89:

How does that work then:grin:

I joint up to learn from the mistakes of others. Can’t possibly live long enough to make them all myself and I probably get enough exercise just pushing my luck.:biggrinjester:
Used to really enjoy the microwave, boil in the bag electrician (ready in two minutes) slating. Seeing them arrive with a lot of swagger and bravado trying to take over the sandbox. And then watching them have their fragile little egos bruised. They were free to make a complete and total utter @rse of themselves in public and I applauded them for not being afraid to exercise that right. However, they rather reminded me of a herd of wildebeest queuing up to cross the Mara river as part of their annual migration. The river had to be crossed, but the first into the water run the greatest chance of becoming crocodile feed while the last found the prime grazing depleted. What they didn’t seem to be able to grasp is that you can’t clear a swamp when you're up to your @rse in alligators…pml. But that is all in the past now since all that monkey business is strictly forbidden. Very childish I know but I enjoyed it!
And although I’ve only ever met one other forum member, there are many great characters here. Just a shame I haven’t got the time to spend more time online, which is probably a good thing.

Ah, you probably know what my name means....

Ek het nooit geweet dat.
Ek doen nou! :)
Not too bad for a beginner Archy;)

I picked up on it the first time I saw it. Besoeker is a very apt username, it made me smile at the time when you joined. I've also seen a few less savoury usernames in Dutch and Africaans on the forum. Less savoury would actually be an understatement for a couple of them, downright obscene would be more accurate and as I've come across them I've deleted or edited them :)

Thank you all for your replies so far. For me, the differing opinions/advice given by members based on their knowledge/experience is like being on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and being able to 'phone 50 friends'.

Thank you for that.
I've had the opportunity to visit SA a number of times, mostly work related. I think the first time was about 1969 or 1970. Durban. It was to commission variable speed drives in a paper mill - long since gone I believe. It was a bit of an eye-opener for me.

Other visits have been for the gold mining industry mostly in the Johannesburg area or dribing distance from it. Places like Western Deep Levels, Elands Rand...Potchefstroom

But I also got to Cape Town a few times and did a few of the tourist things like hike up Table mountain. And enjoy the seafood restaurants in Hout Bay.

Hout bay is just around the coast from where I stay in Noordhoek. It's a stunning area to live in. I wouldn't live in Durban or JHB for all the tea in China, I hate going up there for a few days at a time on business, also mostly on the mines.
