if i can post this here if not let me know where i can on this site thanks.

i had my house burn down last oct. and i had the 100 amp service panel in the garage. and i had a 40 amp sub panel next to that and that fed to my back garage sub panel located in that back garage for that power, so now we are getting a modular home and it seems they will not or can not run the circuits up into the attic area and then let the local electrician connect them to a new 200 amp service panel that will be in the same location in the new garage.

so my question is this. they are doing a 200 amp for the house located somewhere in the house, and will have to put a coil of most likely 4/0 alum wire in the attic for the electrician to run into the garage to the same area the meter base will be. i know that will need to be fused and most likely at least a 200 amp main also, but what type of panel can i get that will also have some breakers in it so i can get my outlets and lighting circuits back in the garage and also allow me to run the 40 amp circuit back to my garage i have in the backyard to the sub panel back there?

i want to locate one to get a handle on there prices. i figure the electrician will source one but sometimes they are not much on prices as they like to use favorite stores. and i may be able to source one that will work and get a lower price. but i do not know what they are called. or what to look for.

already i had the plumber want to put a 1500.00$ tankless water heater in and we only need a 800.00$ unit because the house is 2 BR. and the havc guy wanted to do a 4500.00$ furnace when a 1500.00$ one would work as it was the same type i had in the house before, the fire. so i'm doing checks to help save on prices. funds are not just there the insurance gave us money but that is limited also so i have to make sure i do not run out of funds. thanks for any help

What you need to do is install a 40 circuit NEMA 3 200 amp main panel with a a
NEMA 3 meter base on the outside of your house and feed your 200 amp panel in your garage, then you would have plenty of space for your other panels and water heater. Not insulting your intelligence but NEMA 3 means outdoor approved. You can also purchase a meter base 40 circuit combo.

thanks but i was looking to only have the meter base outside and the service in the garage. being the house is going to have a 200A service inside already. it looks like i need to put in some type of 200A panel and feed the house with the 200A main in whatever panel i get and then the other breaker slots i can use for power it the front garage and then going to the back garage as a sub feed.
i think i found this one that should work what do you think? thanks
Siemens 200A PNW0816B1200TC, 8 Space, 16 Circuit, Outdoor Load Center, Type 3R

this one looks like at the bottom or the buss bars i can attach the main feed going to the house and use the main in this panel as the main breaker for everything? i see the incoming lugs on this main breaker and it has slots for breakers to use in the garages and at the bottom lugs so attach the feed going to the modular house main panel. thanks
