what do you guys think

Self employed at mo on £120 a day subbing to a guy who has plenty coming up. I have to pay all my fuel, van insurance etc.
But just been offered a job on the books on £13ph with time half after 40 hours, van, holidays etc.
What would you guys go for?

take the 13ph
120 a day minus cost of van cost of fuel is garbage

As Glasgo said 120 isn't very much after costs are taken out especially with diesel at the minute! I pay a subby with his own tools around 130-150per day plus fuel and I'm in cheltenham and there isn't a huge amount on at the moment! I would take the job on the books!

We in Poole get £120 as subbies for local work and always thought ok but if you have chance of secure (as can be) work at this time I would go for it, cant see it getting any better anytime soon

Not even given my tupence worth - go for the other job, it's alright working with friends but sometimes you've gotta put yourself first. Fulltime job over subbying...a no brainer.

Going to take the permanent role archy like mark said, you got to look after number one. Only time will tell if its the right decision but I think I would be stupid turning down secure work at this present time.

Think you have answered your own question, as if you have a steady job with income you will have a better chance of getting a mortgage than on subbing not knowing when you will get paid as this is what the mortgage company will look at with the present climate.
