Next week I intend to run ads in all my local papers right across my local area.

Just looking to nick a few a bit and pieces from the domestic sparks, if there's any work in my area (Herts and Essex)

I Need something to do and the odd pennies will come in handy until a longish contract starts in a few weeks.

Don't matter how qualified and how experienced I am, its what money people want to spend.

I'm thinking on the lines of ÂŁ20 for the initial first hour of turning up, then maybe ÂŁ15 an hour onwards.

Or should I go ÂŁ20 then ÂŁ10 onwards, bear in mind agencies don't want to pay that great money at the moment.

It's better than watching tv is this!

Jokes aside, Tony are you going to do notifiable work without informing the labc? We all know what we think about the part p etc but laws are laws and if we, the qualified professional electricians blatantly stick two fingers up at it aren't we just as bad as all those Dave's down the pub? You are a jib gold card holder and I'm sure you are a good electrician but saying the things you have said makes us all look like cowboys after a quick buck. Quality of your work is not at question but what you do regards to notifying it is.

One thing you can say with certainty is that part p has aroused a lot of passionate feelings and attitudes amongst sparks
This thread demonstrates that passion :)

I do believe that qualified sparks will have a less law abiding attitude to the legistlation. the longer the likes of the Niceic continue with the blinkered untrue summaries and presentations they are giving to government about its application, as demonstrated in the link in the other thread by IQ http://niceic.com/Uploads/File4079.pdf

Some of us have less will to resist bad laws and take what is given without too much opposition, others like Tony may not have that same attitude
He may very well be wrong, but the motive for that wrongdoing is understandable with part p in its present form

Whilst not condoning that attitude because every spark who works under the radar is able to have less cost to the job than myself,it cant be denied that if enough did take that attitude, part p would be where many would like to see it,in the bin where it most definetly belongs

The law is an ---.......... Charles Dickens Oliver Twist.

I for one am in total agreement with that when it is regarding Part P and the legislation behind it. But so are many laws in many peoples eyes also an ---, but without laws where would our society be.

Like it or hate it Part P is the law, how we change it, is open to all forms of debate and speculation but until it is changed then that is what we need to abide by. As it got teeth of course not, does it make electrical work safer of course not, will it stop people breaking it very doubtful, Is it the right law absolutely not. Like it or hate it, as an electrician working in the domestic sector we must abide by it.
