what does a commisioning of data cable entale

what does a commisioning of data cable entale as i have a cable tester but the client is using ask4 to do the final finishing touches to the data installation but i have first fixed it all and tested the cable but they want it commisioned by a "official" data tester with a test document. Can i get one of these test sheets and fill it in myself?

I haven't come across one myself i would of thought a core to core check would of sufficed but maybe there is some form of interference test you can do?

That is a network cable tester, reading up on the features it definitely seems focused on what speed of data transfer the cable can handle, which makes sense for a CAT 7 network i suppose, however a cat 5 network? Maybe not so much, have you used shielded cat5 out of interest?

I have'nt done any of this for a few years but all data cables should be tested with a calibrated tester such as a FLUKE NETWORKS DSP 4100 CABLE TESTER CAT5E DSP4100 these measure quite a few criteria such as near end and far end crosstalk. They run automatic tests end to end on cable. The results are stored, you then download the results and print the report to give to your customer. Obviously any failures have to be rectified prior to the report being handed over.
Some electrical wholesalers rent these out to their customers.

thanks, i have used the big fluke testers in the past but i would have thought that as long as the smaller testers tell you its got a good signal and wired correctly i would have thought that this would have surficed. prob being the big testers which are about £200 for a couple of days.Oh well

The length is ok I seem to remember the max length from patch panel to outlet socket is 90m.

All the simple testers tell you are the pairs are wired correctly, it does not test the active electrical characteristics. A poorly installed will pass the simple test but can cause severe network problems with bad packets, reflective losses and noise.

yes im easily within the boundries to do with length and there are only 50 cables in its own riser, own basket so will have no interfierence

If this is not in the original remit of the job you can surely charge for this. Look out for a local data guy , he might want to test it for a bit of money, saving you renting a tester.
