Lee, if you want it..make it happen. It sounds like you have the motivation. Don't be put off by rejection. There are many on here who are sick to death of the modern apprentice who doesn't want, or doesn't care about the job opportunity they have. I'm sure they would bin them off in preference to someone like you.

Why don't you spend some time putting together a cv and post it in the section of the forum for people seeking work. You don't have to try to gloss over your academic shortcomings either, as an understanding of one's own personal weaknesses, and a positive attitude to addressing them, is a sign of maturity that actually might give you the advantage over someone who claims they are the business.

Keep at it, and keep in touch.
 
Just as an aside I also tried to look into the trainee forum. I was hoping to answer a question or two and also see what the current crop are going through. I am surprised that us mere mortals are not "allowed" access. After all we are always learning and we have all been through most of the tests. Who better to answer some of the questions ? It could be a one strike and your out scenario.
