Been asked to change a consumer unit, not been to look at the job yet, but would like some idea what to charge. The job is in Essex.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You are better off having a look first and see how many circuits are involved and any other work you may have to do like upgrade of the tails, do you need to crimp the cable to fit into new unit etc etc. Then when you know what is needed you can work out what the parts will cost you and how long it will take. Never sell yourself short

your talking half a day work so if you base it on 100 pounds for materials 275 labour 375 sounds a good price with plenty of profit ,they will be pleased.
