Hi. Looking to employ a sub contractor on a day rate. Just helping on projects we have ongoing. All work is in South Yorkshire working in a team with us or sometimes alone. Would just like to know what is a fair day rate for 8hrs. Always pay weekly?

Its not that people wouldn't work for ÂŁ250 a day, I would, but I wouldn't work as a subcontractor. I prefer to do my own thing, I could never stand there whilst somebody is telling me their way is best and what they say goes.

It is not difficult offer a decent rate and you will get what you want, offer peanuts and you get monkeys, you will always been known as the contractor who can't deliver, hesitant to put this on here again, but when I retried ten years ago I was charging near double what you are offering.

Would never tell anybody my way is better. Been doing this long enough to no every day is a school day. If you no a better way that will be my way.

Hi Mike what was your area of work? You obviously did really well. Was it a niche work?

Then lower your mark up and offer more. Be

What type of work is it?

There are a lot of variables to be considered.

My day rate changes based on who the customer is, what their reputation is like, how often they give me work, what the work is, how well organised the job is etc.

Sorry if we make a mistake and work is not organised you still get the day rate. Nothing always runs to plan.
