Took a call from a customer today that has an issue with lighting in one of their flats. Not a problem but he then mentioned that he also wanted me to quote to resolve issues found during recent EICR. One C2 of many was a lack of CPC in the lighting circuit. Would you repair a problem with the lighting whilst a C2 is still outstanding ?

I would repair the fault they have requested to be looked at and if there was other issues I would highlight these issues in the strongest terms. If the customer does not want tontake this advice I would issue a Danger Notice with my invoice.

Not to mention the fine you would incur if the Gestapo were to stop you and discover that you were carrying "commercial waste" in your van without a licence .....

Roofer fined ÂŁ300 for carrying sandwich wrappers and crisp packets in his van - https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/08/02/roofer-fined-300-carrying-sandwich-wrappers-crisp-packets-van

I was gonna give you a dumb, but it was meant for those 'officials'. If thats correctly reported, then thats madness.

Maybe the roofing business was a front, be was actually running a picnic service?
Their complaint seems to be that it was in a plastic commercial waste sack, but it looks like a normal bag for life to me. Why does that make a difference?

Without resorting to the Lock Stock approach, I'd perhaps suggest to JobsWorth that I don't agree. That I'll take his name and pics of the evidence for my Solicitor's reference and say how I'm looking forward to seeing JWorth explaining to a Magistrate how lunch wrappers are construction waste, whatever tidy up bag I've put them in. But Lock Stock is one of my favourite movies for a reason I guess ...

As a courtesy service to customers, I used to agree to transport the waste accumulated during a rewire to the local council recycling centre. But not any more. If I were to transport this waste in my van it would be considered "commercial waste" and I would be required to pay the Scottish Environment Protection Agency a fee of ÂŁ210 to obtain a waste carrier's licence, renewable every three years at a cost of ÂŁ133.

But if the customer were to transport the same waste in their own vehicle the waste would be deemed to be "household waste" and no licence would be required. They're having a laugh. This is nothing less than yet another indirect tax that has been levied on business.

The paperwork stating the reason was failure to produce waste transfer licence when required, would mean that it would be thrown out in court as he requires a waste carriers licence. He may also have needed a waste transfer note in some circumstances but not a licence.
Load of rubbish!

Yep our Sparkychick alerted myself and others to this issue some time back. I got myself a lower tier waste licence, which only covers me for waste I create from my work, i.e. remnants of new bits of cable. However if I took my collection of old scrap cable to the scrappy, my licence wouldn’t cover me?
