Ok sensible answer, it would be ideal for drilling ceilings and or soffitts for the installation of extractor fans and associated ducting/grilles.

100mm or 104mm you'll struggle to get 100mm ducting through.

I'd have thought the overall dimensions of the average '4 inch' fan and square grill would be around 140mm ish ? I think my big core drill is around 114mm.

What would you use a 114mm holesaw for?

I would use it to save both time and my legs from having to trundle down and then up three flights of stairs (with an injured knee) to get the jigsaw and extension lead out as I had to the other week to cut holes as per post 5. I could have core drilled the ceiling as I had that gear on the van but thought it was overkill..
