we can fit a 4kWp system on that roof no problem (as long as we ignore the fact that it's a hipped roof)

our panels have a 25 year guarantee........

that's the sodding performance guarantee that all MCS panels carry.

What makes me laugh is that the performance guarantee doesn't include failure. Surely if a panel is guaranteed to produce 80% of what it did in day one, then if it's broken it will produce 0% meaning it is under guarantee?

back to the OP
a few quotes being done but no installs. ON one we were more expensive than the others, on another we were cheaper than the others (both quotes were for the same amount!).
We quoted ÂŁ6995 for a 3kW system. One of the competing quotes, which was cheaper, also included a solar thermal system, which seemed extraordinary.

Happily I have other pies I have my fingers in which are keeping me busy, would rather be doing solar though.

Had 3 solar installs this week, just finished a day early which is a bonus, thats it solar wise now no other enquiries and have no soul left to distroy when it comes to the lead generators etc.

ÂŁ6995 seems high for 3KW? is that panasonic or alike?

Panasonic, your joking aren't you!!! That would have been ÂŁ9200. thats yingli 250 with SMA 300HF and cutting my margins as low as I am prepared to go.
Thats a team of 3 guys for 2 days plus scaffold, which I cannot get for less than ÂŁ600 round here. If I could get it cheaper I would, but I can't.
It still gives the customer a decent return of over 10% by my reckoning.

What was the roof surface construction? Surely you can whip your guys into getting it done in a day? without compromising quality. Especially with these lighter evenings! You save 3 blokes day rate that way.

i installed Yingli 265's with solarmax 3000S for ÂŁ5500 mon and tues, was two neighbours though which made it easier and gave them a deal for signing up together, done both electrical parts in a day, then a day and half to do both roof's, 10 panels, thats just myself and an electricians mate.

I looked at the 265s but they're quite expensive.
We could probably do it in a day and reduce the cost maybe ÂŁ5-600, but then, if you have a problem and it does drag on into a second day your really starting to look a bit tight on the margins.

Not uncommon over here for that mistake to still be made with twin brown. Seen a few circuits ripped out when 1.5 3C&E was lifted instead of 2.5 T&E.
