Hello,

Not the usual question probably posted in this sub-forum but I believe this could be beneficial for some of you as well as myself, maybe.

Anyways, I’m 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] year software engineer at Uni and next year I’ll be doing my third and final year project. For my final year project we have to find a given problem in any area and solve it using software.

Now as some of my friends are electricians by trade I thought it would be a lot easier to get feedback about potentially solvable problem, but as well as them I’d like to get feedback from other electricians.

My hats off to all of you in this industry as it seems way harder than anything I’ll ever have to put up with as a software engineer.

Would really like any input regarding the questions below and I'll be sure to follow up and keep everyone involved as a part of whatever may or may not result from this conversation. So here goes nothing (flame retardant suit on):

Can you walk me through a typical day for you?
What’s the most painful task you have day-to-day?
What takes up most of your time?
What are you currently doing that frustrates you?
What tasks are you doing that you believe can be made easier or less tedious?

Btw - I’ve tried contacting companies and not surprisingly I got little response.

What’s the most painful task you have day-to-day? Am i getting payed enough for the rest of the jobs im doing now
What takes up most of your time? Paper Work< Test sheets etc
What are you currently doing that frustrates you? Drilling through Asbestos then thinking damn another life gone
What tasks are you doing that you believe can be made easier or less tedious? A pipe bending threading like the plumbers come on whats the crack :)

Nearly forgot to do test Paper did i pass... :)

When you cut down a T+E with snips and accidentally cut the CPC into a point, then part the sheathing with your fingers and stab yourself on aforementioned sharp point in the thumb.

Or when you have had the carpet up, go to stand up and put your palm down on the carpet gripper.

Or general hammering of thumbs.

Or rolling off a large drum of hefty SWA, and the end comes off the wooden drum and smashes you in the nadgers. Come to think of it, I'm quite a clumsy bugger really !
