People have been ignoring the 'test your RCD quarterly' sticker since before I started my apprenticeship. They sure as hell won't read that one either!
I know exactly the intentions behind this label. Mains cupboards are usually rammed with carp of all descriptions. Mop buckets, stacks of toilet rolls, ladders etc, and in domestic cupboards, coats, shoes, boots, hoovers etc.
I have seen a damaged main fuse carrier earlier this month due to a hoover strike, leaving a hole that could fit a child's finger in onto live parts . Damage through not giving appropriate space and consideration to equipment does happen, and can result in immediate danger.
Having said that I would never fit one of these labels myself. You have to credit people with common sense and the ones that don't have any.... well, that's not my lookout. The majority of the time a cluttered mains area is just an inconvenience to me rather than a danger.
I did take this photo last week though while working in a fast food restaurant.... probably the first mains cupboard I have seen in a decade with nothing in it except the distribution equipment....I was pleasantly surprised.

I knew I had to do something today ....
Nowhere for the mice to hide.......it seems.
What's the problem? I think it's a good idea. The amount of people I see with old 3036 boxes with covers missing in a cupboard with coats covering it...
Jesus, what is it with UK sparks these days?? Why do you feel compelled to cover every inch of a CU/DB with pointless stickers that nobody actually bothers to read or takes any notice of at all?? Now it seems some of you actually go out of your way searching for obscure stickers, ......perhaps to fill that last 2 square inches of exposed CU's exterior surface!!
There’s only one label required, circuit designation discretely hidden under the cover. Anything else is superfluous and an eyesore!
Maybe so, but you'll still fail your yearly assessment if you don't put the required stickers on! Even though it's a poor reason it's reason enough.
A lot of the stickers seem pretty pointless IMO, Like the mixed wiring colours one for example. Anyone who is working on the electrics should be competent to safely carry out & test the work anyway.
The reasoning for this label is that younger fully qualified electricians will only have ever worked with the new colours. But yeah, anyone with half a brain could have an hour's session on the old colours squeezed into their course and never have a problem.
