Unfortunately 3 or 4 members who stick together to slate new members is the problem, one or 2 are big headed without doubt hiding behind the computer screen, I suggested running an earth wire with a submain supply recently and was hanged from the neck due to an opinion which wasn't to one members liking, I was accused of having no experience and not knowing anything about the trade due to that post, in fact mocked and told "we don't have to answer to your sort" I have also seen at least 3 other posts since where new members have been mocked due to similar circumstances, also now some established members are accusing the staff of reading their private messages as well just because they have added a rival forum to the filter and created a link so when it is mentioned the name is not shown, the whole site needs a shake up IMO, another problem is the fact you need 3000 posts to join the GANG here, I thought the forum was about helping others who are sparks with problems etc, unfortunately you need over 3000 posts and a dick the size of europe to be treated with any respect here, god knows how the mods and admins cope with running this site.

Some good points raised there but I can't address them all with this reply.

However just to clarify about the 3k thing. The lads in there will be helping shape the forum a little, and it would take years to implement changes if 30k members all had a say. So far the lads in there have only used it to suggest good things and help. It's not a "club" you need to gain access to per se, but one you'd hopefully enjoy being part of and thankful for contributing so much that you get a little back.

As for newbies V established members - we'll do what we can there! We're trying!

for what my opinion is worth, the majority have made me, as a complete outsider, very welcome. I have received some lovely private messages.

I do hope this forum continues for those many sparks who see it as a valuable source of information and support in difficult times for many tradesmen xx

basically I have browsed the site for a couple of weeks and have been shocked at the attitude and personalities of some established members here, the OP asked why the site was quiet, I said my views, in general most posts are very helpful, but one or two here think they know everything and will be very happy to slate anyone who doesn't agree, and due to thier post count and friendships think they can crucify other members and get away with it, well I won't put up with it and won't tolorate bullying, I am at junction 12 on the m5 and will happily meet any bully to discuss their bad ways with them, surely this site is about helping other electricians with problems and discussing the trade with them, we all have different views and should be considerate rather than aggressive and down right nasty.

I never try to "gang up"on anyone,but will admit to being wary of responding to some recent posts by so-called electricians,who obviously don,t know what they are talking about.However if someone is stuck and I feel they will understand what I am saying I will go out of my way to help.I,m sure we,ve all seen the type of post to which I am refering.

The OP in this thread I think was trying to troll a little. For moving the thread, I got a PM with swearing in it saying I'd 'UPSET' a few members 'with what I've done' - he's not clarified what I've done mind. Though he did say 'oh, so it'll all about money is it' - again, not sure why moving a thread suggested that.

Pretty sure we'll see some trolling for a week or so, then a bit of banning, then we'll all move on - on whichever forum we're then welcome on!

Those comments were aimed at jason as he has upset alot of members that is what i meant i just didnt realise you wasnt him if that makes any sense.im not very good with computers as i have a basic knowledge and is that what its called trolling? the words REMOVED off is hardly swearing dan considering so yeah that PM is out in the open lol and im at jct 10 m6 lol

Jason has not upset a lot of members at all! What's he done?

I've done everything that's caused all the "upset" from the trolls (a couple of genuine members who have been misguided by the trolls) so A) they were aimed at me B) you PM'd the wrong guy all together C) you swore (not at me but sort of).

I've edited your swearing in a public-viewable forum.

Take this as a warning. Stop TROLLING <-- click that it'll explain what an UNWANTED TROLL is. Trolls are not only NOT welcome on this forum, they're generally hated across the internet.

And how the hell is Jason all about the money? He's a volunteer he doesn't get a penny for ALL the time and effort he puts into the forum.

Have a good word with yourself mate you're stepping on the wrong foot here.

I thank you for your contributions to the forum but if you're going down the wrong road we'd rather say our goodbyes sooner rather than later so we can get on with members who want to play nice on the forum.

Don't want to appear to be ganging up here by replying to this after you. But I think I was right in saying it's the couple of dodgy members leading perhaps even sedgy34 a stray and things may just quiten down a little now on that point.

If people do want to know my financial records, they're welcome to buy them from the Companies House, MY company (not Jase's) as called Untold Developments Ltd and we're about to submit our first accounts as a limited company and we're pleased to say we're in a good profit with very low costs.

However I'm still not as rich as your average sparky! lol

Where the forum has lost its way, big time, is by doing nothing to the DIY'ers and electrical "takers" on the forum. That's why some people have been getting increasing abrupt with such posters.

Sure slap down on the sarcastic responses , but DO THE SAME to the DIY'ers who ignore questions put back to them.

Its been suggested on various occassions that there should be a yellow card system and this may be a step in the right direction imho
