[ElectriciansForums.net] Which is my main earthing conductorI understand that the 16mm coming out of the service cutout is my main earthing BUT the 6mm from the m.e.t which goes to the sub db has thrown me out. Do I put down 6mm as this is lower case

The main earthing conductor, is the one from the supply going to either an earth block adjacent to the supply head or straight into the CU/DB, and is connected into the supply head neutral. TNCS

Or it comes from the outer sheathing of the supply cable and is clamped similar to main bonding cables, and either goes to an earth block or the earth bar in the CU/DB. TNS

Or it comes out from the DB or earth block, and goes to the earth electrode. TT

Cheers.................Howard

The sub main board and the property consumer unit, I've not the 16mm earthing coming out of the supply head but what about the 6mm between the met block and the sub board should I just make a comment and code c3 for improvement even though it's sufficiently sized using the adiabatic equation

By definition the earthing conductor is what connects the MET to the means of earthing. If you are saying the "henleys" represent the MET for the whole installation then the earthing conductor is whatever size the 'grey' cable is!

If you are saying you have two seperate installations represented by the two DB's with seperate METs inside them, then one has a 6mm earthing conductor and one has a 16mm earthing conductor.

The sub board on the right feeds the consumer unit I'm doing the condition report on, that 16mm is my earthing conductor but the earth going from the met block to the sub board is 6mm, which means it's only protected by the primary fuse not the sub main fuse

Aah, understand!

So would I be right in assuming the MET for the consumer unit is actually in the consumer unit and not in that DB or the Henleys? (i.e. is all the bonding, CPC etc .... going straight into the consumer unit not that DB or elsewhere?)

If the 'real' MET is in the consumer unit then 6mm it is!

Where does the black cable in the right hand Henley go DOWN to/what does it serve?

Yes the real met is in the db

You would treat it as a TT installation.
