which tester megger 1552 or fluke 1652?

hi i have been looking at the megger 1552 but used a fluke 1652 last week and found it a ok meter so why the big diffrence in price?

megger for me every time. with the fluke , apparently, you have to null leads for Ze and Zs tests. the megger only needs nulling for continuity tests. apart from which, it don't look as if it's been made in a digger factory in utcheater.

have both, good value for money, however the megger is slightly easier to use.

Yep Megger 1553 but in a yellow Fluke 1652 case as the Megger case is as they say not worth a ----

pretty sure fluke needs all 3 leads on loop test as well

Lucas you have touched a sore point there because the Megger needs three leads as well except for the "new 1700 model" that is apparently getting awards for having a 2 lead verion and are selling it with the proviso that you dont have to "get tha ladders out you can measure it at the light switch thus saving time and money" As told to me by the Megger rep who demonstrated the 1700 in Edinburgh and I asked but we are constantly being told we should measure the full circuit ie switch on measure at the light fitting "A yes he said we are in discussions with NEICE NAPIT SELECT etc or in other words the tail is wagging the dog here.

Also just to say the I have a Megger 1553 and I am very happy with it and as I said I use the Fluke yellow carry case with it and I am very very happy with this as the Megger case is Bl**dy useless and the Megger rep said this does not make sense to me so I said well can you sit on your box NO can you safely store your leads and close the case without them spilling over NO can you store your bits and peices ie R1R2 plug tester ,fuses, modified leads etc NO and he still could not get it because all he could say is you are carrying a Megger in a Bl**dy big yellow box with Fluke on it so there you are one foot in each camp

to be honest oldtimer didnt see whether it was the 1700 series cos it was on hire from SIS but was lovely bit of kit.

Just checked in NIC catalogue they doing megger 1710 for £480 not bad at all

yeah agree on the box front when i see someone else on the train carrying big yellow fluke box almost inclined to go over and have a chat wouldnt even notice the megger case !!

Best £25 I ever spent no seperate bags for the Kewtech plug and light testers also I have leads made up with croc clips plus a nice seat to sit on megger case in the garage gathering dust. Also when it comes to mind people I know who have a Fluke said the case influenced them

geezer i used to work with he used that very top clip compartment on the fluke box for his storage area for his 60 a day roll-up habit !!

You cant do that with a Megger box (I can see a theme here)
