Is it missing a supplementary cover that should clip over the top?
seems like a poor design but I have known covers like that to be optional accessories for some devices.

Some Wylex ones had a terminal cover but that is an enclosed MK one.

Yes it is a ring crimp to a swa "banjo" the outgoing cable is a two core 16.0 swa.
