I've been looking at wall chasers, I really can't work out why they are so expensive. They seem to be a ÂŁ70 angle grinder with a dust extraction shroud. Am I missing something?

I've the Metabo one, have used the Titan, found it heavy and cumbersome to work with in comparison.

Metabo or Makita used to be the 2 options I recall in my early days, Aeg made a really good one, more powerful motor too. No longer produced.

The time saved, neater tracks for patching in, the vast reduction in cleaning up afterwards makes them worth it imo.

I use a Makita SG1250 in conjunction with a Makita VC2512L vacuum and am well-pleased with the performance of both machines over the years. Expensive, but top-notch, powerful, reliable pieces of kit. Worth every penny.

Be very cautious with the cheaper wall chasers look into the width of the cut and its only 30 mm great for smaller cable capping but no good for the wider capping when chasing a few cables in.
Standard 4 1/2 grinder and extractor does just as good and its a lot lighter.

Just run another track beside it. Pretty simple really.
Yep that is pretty simple but my point is a wall chaser is used to save time and one that cuts a 30mm wide chase will then have to be run up again to widen the chase so why not just use the 4 1/2" grinder. The only wall chasers to be considered are the ones that are capable of cutting a 40mm wide chase and are the more expensive versions and will save time.

Cos then you’ll have to do Double the tracks than if you’ve a twin bladed chaser.
