Bet there not in the CU as the post says

(cables obviously didn't reach the new CU )
I think we're viewing that as possibly a little ambiguous mate. They may not be able to be terminated correctly but may still reach inside the CU (common problem). Some clarification would help clear it up.

Hi did he use these View attachment 5431 or theseView attachment 5430 as the first ones are a no no as they can work loose, or you can over tighten screws and brake cable or weaken the holding and the second are a yes yes as they are mechanically sound once crimped.

I agree and disagree with you on this one. I have used both methods in the past, I agree crimping is better than choc block, but once crimped the single cores do crush, and i have seen many cases where investigating a fault, i have come across a broken crimped joint. Crimps are great on stranded but tread carefully with singles, I always use Helacons for singles, and have yet to have one break as they are push fit.

Cheers.........Howard.

if outside the CU , i wouldn't consider joins unless in an enclosure of some sort, even if only an adaptable box. saw a job the other week with 12 of the round brown junction boxes above the CU. by fitting longer tails and lifting the CU a foot would have made a much better job

to clarify the cables were outside the CU in a cupboard that could be easily accessed by any of the 6 children that were in the house, the CU had been moved to outside the cupboard where it was originally.

another fine job by bodgit & scarper!

So the cupboard will certainly not have been shown to the NICEIC assessor but I'm rather surprised that he didn't check further considering the new board would be in new colours!

Disgraceful way of doing such a simple job!

Bad practice, better to replace double insulated cables with longer double insulated cables, and as for NICEIC.................they are not fit for purpose!!!
