Stood at the counter in CEF to day a guy looking at a mains board ,obviousley had no idea ,ive got a 4 way rewireable board im up grading says he , i need to extend the tails so need a plastic box, given an adaptable box , ,why not just replace them im thinking ,hes given a nice board 17th ed cool , no wont fit say guy so CEF staff brought out the 6 way RCD main switch board , great im thinking ,guy no idea , doing a job hes not a clue about by the way he was talking , given a board which is incorrect ,will he test it , doubt it will he notify it doubt it ,Part P im thinking , was so tempted to say something but who am i ,im a spark ,what would you guys have said

whatever you say will fall on deaf ears mate. no chance of it being tested or notified either. you should have given him a card for when the nuisance tripping starts

couldnt agree more with above comments. Used to be if you fancied a cash job weigh u pros and cons, give customer option, nowdays customers activly push for job being cash, not interested in certs, just cheap as poss job. cash jobs not much use to me with all the bloody overheads need paying these days Makes you wonder why we pay £400 plus a year to register , i know I can earn same money with much less overheads by doing pure cash jobs only but need to justify my mortggae, living expenses etc to the *******s at HMRC so play by the rules but plenty dont.

Rather not say but i did mention it to the manager and he said thats what he wanted so thats what he got who am i to say what he can have im not an electrician im a sales man , so all i can say is fair comment ,, i think i should be that only regestered electricians should be able to purchase this type of product

I think that type of idea has been banded about before?, it never got off the ground but i agree, those with a certain level of industry recognised qualification or experience should be able to buy them

ran out of sleeve the other day I thought I could do with a burger so nipped to, yup B&Q, there was a guy there looking at the socket outlets scratching his head. I said are you a spark mate? No I'm just a Messer and want to put a socket other side of wall and my mate said its got to be double pole! he said. Oh but that what you got in your hand isn't double pole do you know how to do it? I said. I'll give it a go he said. I said are you going to connect it to the ring or a radial I said? He scurried off quickly saying I'll give it a go........Didn't get a chance to ask what it was for.
