What the hell am I doing wrong with this forum? I've posted two replies, various posts this week - none of which have appeared!!!
Anyway fella, how true is your post? I had a similar problem with a mate of my missus. She wanted a ring extension done (NO SARCASTIC COMMENTS ABOUT RINGS OR RING EXTENSIONS PLEASE FELLAS), anyway I quoted what I thought was a really decent price. Anyway she wasn't happy with my quote and ended up getting her decorator boyfriend to do the job. He done it alright, using scrap cable from his job, bits of 2.5mm, 4.0mm and 1.5mm. When I explained how wrong and potentially dangerous this was - she had to get someone else in to put it right at a cost of more than two quid more than I asked for. Because I refused to do the remedial work for her. I wouldn't mind but I only asked for ÂŁ70 and that would have come with a cert from my mate (because I'm not part P registered, although I've got my 2391). So ******** to it, no favours for mates anymore.

Hi Guys,
Yes it is sometimes a bit scary out there when people say things and your ears burn. I agree with alot of the commonsense here. Best to offer some help (at the normal rate) and I guess you have to wait and see if they call. (Hopefully before someone dies).
Best wishes,
Rex

I was thinking about when I was doing new business cards last week.

Was thinking putting my number of the front, and then the local undertakers on the back. Tell him if you dont call someone like me, the chances are you will need someone like him.

Probably not the best marketing plan ever - but would love to do it.

I have put a page on home saefty on my website to try and drum up some work, and put in article links to newspapers showing fires linked to electrical faults - it only took me 5 minutes to find 20 or so!!

Its funny these would be called "Hard Sell" tactics - but how many lives have proper part P adhering electricians saved?

LOL, ****** go for it mate.
People just don't seem to understand that certain rules and regulations are out there, to save their cheapskate lives. How the hell did we arrive at a situation in this Country, where the the Underground Tube drivers (who lets face it, you can train a monkey to do their job), have a more powerful public voice than an industry (ie the electrical contracting industry) that employs twice their number?
