i use these for 2nd fixing, as they're handy for cutting down 3.5 screws as well.

1st fixing I use the shears

lenny i too have a pair of the CK strippers not a fan you have to turn them round to use as it damages the sheathing otherwise
I am not a fan at all would have preferred some cable shears or a ratchet crimper this came with CK toolkit

Did they come with a packet of sticky plasters for when you get ya hand caught in them botttom bits.

they should do, some nice blisters I have had of them there bottom bits usually followed by the cursing noise and blue coloured language afterwards

you should try these

if you look under head there is wire cutter's (the things themself are useless)

but if you want to paint your work red there handy

im with you there as above . anything bigger than 2.5 and you just make snip in sheath and give it a good a pull

i use these. very handy for a load of second fix. these are smaller then the ck one so doesnt take to much space in the tool box.

A few years ago I was given as set of these: CK TOOLS JOKARI T20030 CABLE STRIPPERS FLAT | eBay
They are good for stripping t&e upto 2.5 but to be honest if I already have a pair of side cutters in my hand I just use them.

I used to have the Ideal 45-235 T&E stripper - my neighbour was a rep for the distributor some years ago. One click for the sheath (unless you got some crap cable with no talc), another for all the conductors at one time.
At the moment it's a combination of stanley knife for the sheath and Weidmuller Stripax for the conductors.

Either way, a squarely cut sheath looks far more professional than the "rip&strip" method.

they dont look that bad actually, ive been using long nose pliers and stanley for a while now. much quicker to strip singles than having to put tool down then pick another up

I always have and always will use Bahco side cutters, CK are really bad tools especially their side cutters, had the same bahco pair for 3 years now, albeit not as sharp as day one, however still puts brand new CK ones to shame

As for stripping flex, the Bahco ones are excellent as they have a very pointed end, just nip around the flex very gently then pull off the sheath, even works on HR flex

Cut through a live t+e....with no rcd......the zap creates luverly little grooves in a side cutter for stripping cables....kinda like the CK combi cutters......alternitavely.....allow the apprentice to do it.Good lesson on safe isolation for him . :devil:
