Discuss Wiring exam question. in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thanks. I never asked anyone to do the original question for me. Some people gave me some pointers and I have discussions with others. I think that this question is as answered as it is going to get.

Can someone give me some table or page references for this please (osg or wiring regs i have both books). Like for each section i have some already but would like to double check with what everyone else has.

Got my 302 retake in the morning so this is urgent dropped marks on a question like this last time could use some help.

Thanks :)

I can pretty much guarantee you that this will be the question you will get. My tutor told us we will get this question and we did.
A 230v 6kw load is supplied via a bs1361 fuse using single core 70*c thermo plastic PVC cables in conduit over a distance of 20 metres. The ambient temperature is 35*c.

Determine:
1 design current
2 minimum fuse rating
3 correction factor value
4 minimum cable rating
5 minimum cable size
6 cable volt drop

1 design current - work out the Amps that the circuit
Will draw.... P/V 6000/230 = 26.1
2 we could use a 30a bs1361 fuse (it says bs1361 in the question)
3 read page 123 - 30/0.94 = 31.91
4 read page 128
5 as above
6 read page 133 and 124

Good luck in ya exam

Ps I only have the red OSG on me so that's the book I refer too

Micky that is a great answer without giving the answer away, that's why I've given you a thanks.

Too many people come on here and want us to do their homework. You've pushed him in the right direction and the OP has now looked in his books for the formula, not the answer. He will learn more.

Hat off to you both.

Thanks for the help guys.

I passed my 302 retake today with a credit!

(last time i failed with 38% a low point by far!)

Although just my luck this question didn't come up in the exam. However it was really helpful!

Thanks again. :)
