Wiring off new oven and hob

Hi All,

Extremely new to electrics so be gentle!!

Currently have an electric oven and gas hob installed in my kitchen. Both appliances are connected to single 13amp sockets in a cabinet - with i believe a 30 Amp switch (single red switch with 6mm cable inside) above them on the tiles.

I have decided to change the oven and hob. Oven load 16 Amps and Hob 32 Amp 5.6kW.

If the hob / oven can be wired to the switch - without damaging the tiles? what costs would be involved in getting the other appliance back to the other side of the house where the consumer unit is? Approx 10m across.

Are you going to have 2 cooking appliancies??

You now have a gas hob and electric oven. Gas hob connected to socket for ignition and oven connected to other socket for power, asuume oven is less that 3kW ok so far

You are going to buy a new electric oven and hob or just a new hob?? and reuse the exisitng oven?

Why are you going to get an electric induction hob and discard the gas???

Is the other appliance you talk about the old hob and where are you putting it. in the same kitchen ??

By factoring in diversity, it is no problem to connect both hob and oven with 6mm to a 45A D/P switch supplied in 6mm from a 40A MCB/RCBO.

Malcolm... Im buying a new oven and new induction hob. Current units are old and prefer the induction unit over gas (maybe bought into the hype, but like the look and idea etc). So new oven to go into old oven (connected to 13 Amp socket) space, and gas hob to be replaced by induction hob (which was connected into 13 Amp for ignition).

Oven is rated at 16 Amp - 3.6kW
Hob is rated at 32 Amp - 5.9kW

10A plus 30% of remaining 38A = 23A, so 40A supply will do both oven and hob. allow an extra 5A if socket outlet incorporated, still ok on 6mm and 40A MCB/RCBO

So it turns out that the 30amp switch is in fact a 45 amp switch.

Which hopefully means everything can go into there?

Oven 16A hob 32 A = 48Amp.

Reading up 6mm wire can take 50A ish in open air which it is (cavity wall, over joints into Consumer unit). Manufacturer add 10% for safety. Then 50A in Consumer unit.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't put it on a 50A MCB, 40A for me

So had two quotes. One goes with the above, the other says it would burn the house down!!!!

I would run a new circuit, partly so there was no risk of overloading if you ever did have all the hob rings on full and the oven on full, but also that if there is ever a fault with the oven or hob it won't affect the use of the other.

if it's 9.5 kw total connected load -i reckon 6sq is fine with diversity

I know that but I believ the manufacturers instructions are quite clear on induction hobs, as said not sure but think you could be wrong.

I am fully aware of the onsite GUIDE and diversity calculations thankyou.
