Hi guys.
Ok so here is my CU change for my Elecsa assessment.

All tests and certificate are fine, no problems.

Than I came back to it and the crappy wall behind which is only 10mm plasterboard has come away under the weight.

So what shall I do to put it back? There's a void behind the back so no more plasterboard to fix anything to. No space with tails to move it over and I'm really worried about what I can do to correct it.
Help me!!

Should have mounted some board up first. If you have space, use some of those plasterboard fixings, they're good enough to hold a cu in place, otherwise, if its a rush job, bang a load of no more nails behind it, that'll keep it in place for your assesment. Make sure its straight when you re-fix it!! oh and I can't see the second RCD?

Yea the sticker on the cover hides the 2nd RCD protecting the off peak supply.

I can't bang any more nails as there is nothing to nail it too. The void behind is so big.

Ok, it was crooked in the first instance and you seem to have fited an old 16th edition board.

You will probably fail if you submit this peice of work, where are you based, if you are any where near me I have an hour to spare tommorow to give you free pointers.

Every cloud, you can now and must rectify these errors..............

Get some RCBOs on the main switch side and pop a board behind the CU, please use a spirit level as first impressions do matter!

I know its a bit ----, but I let one of my guys go for saying "that will do"...It was so on the wonk, not the image my company wants!

The problem is the weight of the tails and thr two RCDs is pullin g it forward.
I'm really had enough, it took me hours to put it up and now this happens.
It's stable, held to the wall really well by the other screws but the void is in breach of IP2X

Off peak supply !!!! you have 2 supplies in the board ,requires a lable to say so if thats the case also you have a gap between the RCD and main isolator the case should be to IPxxb ,right to resecure the board get 2 strips of ply the same width as the board and as heigh as the top of the door frame to the highest point you can then secure it to the wood stud at the bottom and toggle bolt it to the top , and cut a slot out so it will go past the cables

Couldn't agree more. If what you can see isn't right then how bad is what you can't see!!!

over size piece of 10mm ply fixed securely to plasterboard.. also, when did you buy the board. MCBs may be subject to recall. 6A,10A,16A. if purchased between feb.2009 and about july 2010

It might just be ****** cos it's dropped off the wall....could have been straight originally......that said fixing correctly is the basis of a proper job........

There's so much I could say but leave it at this...

1) I can't see a circuit chart adjacent to board this is a requirement of the regs

2) If your fixing anything to PB use the best fixing you can get, clearly you haven't done your homework on this front, if it had passed the assessment prior to coming adrift you could have had a complaint filed against you if it fell off the wall at a later date..not the best scenario is it ?

MCBs bought in september. Thanks for that. Yes wirepuller it's wimpy because it came loose.
I agree the proper fixing of a board is the basis of a good job.

Chipboard is a good idea. Thanks guys.
