Discuss Wits end in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

I'm not looking forward to putting those tails back in again :(.

Steve thanks for the article. Should have done some more research. It's my first piece so got a bit excited.

As telectrix has said....

I kind of did the same fitting my 32" LCD TV in our bedroom. I just used a big piece of MDF etc and No More Nails'd it to the wall. Covered it in the same wallpaper then screwed the tv bracket to it. Tv aint going nowhere! And that board is a hell of a lot lighter than a TV ;)

Easiest way without taking it down to repair the wall would be to use 2 peices of ply each side. Make sure they are wide enough to take the fixings of the CU and allow you to fix the ply to the good part of the wall using proper plaster board fixings.

This time level it up first before fixing.

Can you get two bits of 2 by 1 a several of inches longer than the hole in the PB and slot them in behind it. This will give you something solid to screw to and the PB will be sandwiched tight between the CU and 2 by 1.
And dont panic it is a minor problem that you will sort if you think about the options carefully. If you are going it alone this will pale into insignificance compared to some of the problems you will have in the future!!!

just a few little pointers to the contributers to the post

I can't see a circuit chart adjacent to board this is a requirement of the regs ...... cant see one next to my CU either!! its called labeling the MCBS!! thats what little squares are for!

i cant see the second RCD...!! you cant see no RCD or MCB on My CU's as the flap is solid!

fill it full of no more nails....! and the cavity too??

and CBW your a mean boss...! that will do....! hahaha wonder what the drivers at HNDL would have been doing if you were the gaffa! lol..!

I think Miss Brown would have got her birthday present!

I feel its high time we were able to shoot staff who let the side down, or try to kill their boss.

My guys electroctuded me today....pants this black is no longer a neutral, wires got crossed (CHEERS GUYS!!!)

Some old sweat is going to come along shortly and lecture us on safe isolation......

And they would be right, given various hair raising incidents I can say that at 20 years old I have gone bald!

Safe isolation or youl look 40

The labelling of mcb's does not negate the requirement to provide a circuit Schedule for the board.
