I have been asked to price a massive rewire and the entire downstairs is wooden clad walls. The wooden cladding is staying, I have to cut new boxes into it.
Will a multi tool cut the cladding neatly and quickly ?

I have never used a multi tool so any advice appreciated

So, I have borrowed a multi tool off a mate and had a practice at cutting a 2g box into an off cut of old 18mm chipboard. It cut through it lovely. Relatively straight clean cut lines and not to much mess.
A bit noisy but Overall it did the job better than I expected…

if I get the job with the cladding I think I will invest in a cheap multi tool.

a jigsaw with a cutdown blade would probably do the same job but I think a multi tool offers a bit more flexibility to get into tight areas

i got 2 mulititools. a 12V aldi one (cheapo) and a 18V AEG (same batteries as my combi drill). the AEG one is awesome and the head can be swapped over for a 90 degree drill head.
