This is direct employment and not subbie work any response would appreciated as i am not working in the electrical field at the moment as i am driving hgv,s would this be a good move and do they encourage training !! pay is low

Ok I will respond (against my better judgement), why would I post about ÂŁ52K salaries if it was'nt true? have you looked at the links demonstrating ridiculous rates of pay?

Seems like your getting a little angry, thats a good method of getting people to agree with you but it also gives you a misleading sense of superiority, just because people say they agree doesn't mean they do, its because they feel intimidated.

And I think the inferiority problem is all on your side, and please don't call me mate, cos I'm not your mate.

Anyway, thats me out of here.

ffs here you can have it..

Although i agree there are some big egos rubbing shoulders on the forum i think you may be off the mark with the 52k mark, have just left one local authority and started with a new one. This will be the fourth (cards in) positon ive held and the highest basic salary to date with any comes in at 26k about half of your figure electrical manager,Qs and chargehands all on about the same

Do you actually believe in what you have just posted?? Do you honestly believe that these members posted comments on the disbelief of the council sparks earning 52K pa because they were ''intimidated'' by me??

You don't have much of a respect for the members here if you think that they can be intimidated by me, or anyone else come to that, and then go on to post something that they don't agree with!!! I'm Sorry, but that's just insulting in my book. And NO, the inferiority problem is all yours and you have just proved that here, beyond a shadow of doubt!!
Where i do agree with you, is your statement about me calling you mate, but then it wasn't meant, in the way that you seem to have taken it!! I'm now wondering if you have any mates that dared to disagree with you??

This is just Sad, very Sad!!!

To answer original thread in general pretty good to work for.
Various roles from investment works void properties repairs and maintenance or as simple as lamping up in communal areas.
Your role will match your skillset with opportunies to move into other areas

Strange how people get the wrong end of the stick.

I'm the one being attacked for making some reasonable statements and defending my position. I am the bone and the dogs are after me. lol

Think you had better go back and read thru this thread again. You yourself have been doing a lot of the attacking, in fact it was your smart arse reply to my original post here, that started this off. That and the implying of the 52K pa council sparkies!! Go on, read some of your posts on this thread and then tell me again, that's it's me trying to be superior. .... Get some help ffs!!

Bin men don't work for the councils anymore, they are employed by private companies!! But that's another subject...

I don't believe i've been rude at all, ...not unless you mean that i disagree with you that is!! I find it extremely hard to believe that council sparks were/are on 52K a year, in fact i just don't believe it. There would be intensive investigations/audits on that dept's annual salary bill, and looking to cut personnel, rates, allowances etc. There are very few Engineers (if any) on the council that are on that sort of money, unless they are one of the bosses...

Don't just assume i know absolutely nothing about local councils. As i told you earlier, i have family members working in a local council, one who has done so for many years. He now runs a section of building inspectors, and a civil Engineer by profession. I doubt very much if he is on 52K a year. But what he does get, or will at the end of this year, is a very good Pension, based on his final salary...

For what it's worth I don't think you come across as rude at all.

From reading your posts, I consider you to be very experienced & knowledgeable but - like myself - don't suffer fools gladly.

I don't know what they earn in my area, but from what I've seen of their workmanship whatever it is they don't deserve it !! :(

Strange as most councils i have worked under are very strict on electrical installation work and ensure whatever work is carried out complies with bs7671 ( maybe its a newcastle thing but im opposite side of the water where standards are usually higher)

Hi all

I will post on wednesday how the interview went i think its a good move for me i will be dropping money but i am looking long term as lots of electrical firms have not got the time or money to invest in new staff and i believe working for a local lbc i have a better chance of more training in other fields and better future many thanks to all who responded to my question

Richard

Good luck with your interview richard, this is how i started out with council works, money not good to start, but the experience you will gain will make up for it,it will be an eye opener, once again good luck

Hi All

I had my interview with two nice guys i was asked health and safety questions and how to fault find ect i enquired about training and they said if i was successfull i would be going out with all the sparks to find what i need in lew of training they would then arrange a training program to suit my needs.there answer to training was if theres a electrical course and your willing to do it we will fund you !!!! just hope i have impressed them enough to beat the young uns lol seems a really good job maintenance/installs
