Hi all,im currently an Apprentice and need some advice for a job that my boss is doing. He plans to put a fused spur on a 32a ring circuit to feed a CSU for a couple of sockets in the shed. The cable run is about 45 meters long using SWA (not sure what size). Is this acceptable because this doesn't seem right to me?cheers perry

i know the maximum current would only be 13 but its the length thats getting me because i know the maximum of a ring final circuit is 100 meters squared and im not sure about if theres a maximum length for a fused spur?

the earth i think its TN-S at the incoming.

Sorry what is this 'CSU'?
Spurring off a ring final is a pretty standard way of providing power to a shed - the 13A fuse ensures you can only draw a maximum of 13A from the ring final.
I'm just waiting for the 'exporting an earth to an outbuilding' debate to rear it's head...
hmm....now, theres a thought....

I've got a pdf guide on it here, just trying to figure out if and how I can post it.

Found a link to it:

all that work andd cost to supply an out-building over 40 mtrs away with just 13A ?

and the chances of the shed Zs complying with the max value on the back of a ring main is close to nil.

its a crap idea to be honest.
