Y-plan Issues - quick help needed please!

...Sounds more like an issue with your boiler, than the control side...I would advise getting someone who is familiar with that model, and isolate the control side, bridge out the HW/CH and actually see the boiler function correctly.

Good luck :icon12:

Can somebody help me out please. I've been let down twice now by leccys in the past fortnight.

Has anyone got a diagram or know how to just get the central heating on, using the controls on the boiler. Basically override the 3 way valve, and by pass the thermostat and control panel.

its a Worchester Greenstar RI.

Thanks for your help.

Without seeing the system it is very hard to advise how to bypass the controls safely, some types of hot water storage need overheat protection as they can explode in a most dramatic fashion if they overheat.
The problem with a 3 port valve is that with it latched open manually it will be heating both DHW and CH without control.

Hi Dave, Thanks.

Its not an issue if I latch the valve open, as it will just feed the hot water tank and circulate. I won't be leaving the system running for any longer than 1 hour really. Just enough to heat rads and tank full of water!! Unless I am missing something...

is is there a way to miss everything out, just have the pump and boiler running? I will check that link now Teletrix, thanks mate

You need to put a link between terminals L and LR to get the boiler to fire up.
But I should warn you that unless you are gas safe registered you shouldn't be removing the cover off the boiler.

Charming and the same to you Geordie!
Do you never watch rogue traders or watchdog that's what they say. And over on the plumbing forum if someone asks a question like this they always get closed and advised to get a GSR engineer.
I was only warning the guy not telling him not to.

What he says up there!
You're not interfering with gas/combustion parts of the boiler.
Would you trust a GSR plumber to do the electrics? Probably why it doesn't work! :-)
