I am away to start testing a shop which has a ze of 8.34 and has no rcd protection on any circuits, should this be code 1 on condition report and should I shut off power and install a tt system until an earth can be provided by supplier. ??

Do you know that it's not already a TT because it doesn't sound like you're too sure what's going on there earth wise.

What are the earthing arrangements?

Tns 3 phases, clamp round old supply cable which has the metal sheath under the cloth type material, tried testing directly on to the supply cable sheath aswell as on clamp both around 8.4

On a lighter note, I had a Ze of 0.01 yesterday and that's testing it properly!!!

Ok given what it is, it's the responsibility of the DNO to maintain the earth they provide so get on the phone to them but be prepared to spend a very long time explaining the problem to a bunch of numpties who have no clue what you're talking about

ĂŚ you in london theyll probably charge you heavily for to fix it or tell you to supply your own earth rod. And 0.01 ! That's low. Either pme, joint box where e and n are connected or that house is right next door to a secondary sub.

Which area of Scotland?
And you didn't use a Megger 1700 series on 2 lead LOW did you by any chance? (I know it's obvious but thought it best to ask).
