Fitting ABS pipe Anyone worked with this plastic pressurised pipe much? This week was my first and i thought after my years of experience that these stressful days were mostly behind me...alas they are not.

Problem with Kane 458s Issues with Kane 458s

Bought unit back end of April 2022.

1st. Problem sent back to Kane on 7th July. After flue sampling it would take 2 minutes to slowly drop coppm. Then hang at 4 coppm for next to 3 to 4 minute's before zeroing in fresh air. Also ratio would jump around.

Kane fitted a new CO sensor.

2nd. Problem sent back to kane on 6/12/2022. On older pre-condensing boilers I'm getting unbelievable clean ratios of.
Example given:

Ideal Mexico rs 80
Co2 7.9%...

 

Heat Group Magnaclean copy. Parts of it are excellent. I was tidying up the boiler pipework on a bungalow I bought and plan to move into. Being a cheapskate, I considered keeping the Heat Group magnetic filter. It was like the old Magnacleans with offset plastic tails and I knew it would be messy and fiddly to fit, but although it seemed a bit pants, it did seem to work to some degree and wasn't leaking.

Pan connector to soil, not sure what needed Hi all,

Need to change this pan con and am not sure what I'm looking at where the pan con and the soil meet? I'm guessing it's not just a regular one needed?

The piece of solid plastic pipe immediately after the flexible section ends looks a smaller bore than the soil sticking out from the tiles. And then there is a double lip between the two, presumably with a seal inside for push fit?

So I'm thinking the current pan con ends with plain pipe...

 

Toilet waste small drip leak - plumbers mait not working Amateur here. My toilet waste has a small drip leak at the join, & I was advised to use Plumbers Mait to seal it up. I did, & it worked for a while, but what I find is the putty is continuing to get wet from the leak & the seal is being broken a few days after I press it in again. Is there some kind of sleeve I could put around this to try to fix this more permanently? Advice appreciated.

Silent Running Toilet eluding capture I have three toilets in the house. Two have been "silent running" for a while now (constant trickle of water leaking from the cistern into the bowl).

They are identical Ideal Standard units as shown in the picture.

I successfully fixed one of the toilets by replacing the seal at the bottom of the flush unit.

But the second continues to run, despite:

• Replacing the seal at the base of the flush unit
• Swapping out the flush unit with the third...

Megaflo UVC - Very Loud Noise When Hot Tap Opened Hi,

I have noticed that when a hot tap is opened for the first time after a heating cycle (in this case a bath tap), the water flows for a couple of seconds and then there is a very loud noise as can be heard in the video.

Any ideas what it may be? I couldn't deduce the source. The EV was recently checked and pressure increased from 1 to 3 bar per instructions but notably it did this before. I just at that time didn't know the trigger. It...

PRV with Gauge Question Hi,

I have a Caffeli PRV near the mains stopcock. Static pressure fluctuates between 3-4 Bar and when a tap is opened it sits around 2 Bar. No issues with pressure but trying to gain an understanding of how it should be setup to protect appliances. I do have a couple of Grohe toilets that make a slight thump when the filler shuts off abruptly.

With taps running is I adjust the PRV I can decrease / increase the pressure but it tails off (doesn't increase) beyond 2...

 

Washing machine drain hose. Hi
I'm unsure what is acceptable when routing the drain hose from a washing machine.
Is the loop shown in the picture acceptable?

Additionally, the rubber end to the drain hose almost closes off the 40mm opening of the stand pipe. I know that a gap must be present. Looking at the hose, the last 150mm of the hose appears to be slightly different. Can this be cut off to allow the hose to go into the standpipe and give an air gap, instead of it fully closing of the...

 

Re Condensing boiler Hi
Just wondering if anyone can help? I moved into a new build several years back and have noticed that every time I empty dishwater into my sink the boiler (in my kitchen) makes a gurgling noise. The sink waste and the boiler overflow both run into the soil pipe! Is this anything to get concerned about? All answers appreciated

Shower elbow wall plate. Hi, best way to go about fitting these? The length of thread means the back plate elbow is deep in the wall for the square shroud to fit flush with the tile.

Is it best so sit the back plate elbow forward and trim down the Brass thread ?

Releasing pressure in pipwork Hi
I know that this may seem like a daft question, but here goes.
Is it possible to release pressure in pipe work.
Let me expand.
I've been undertaking some changes to the pipework in out ground floor kitchen. The pipework had been completed using JG Speedfit, so I've used the same to make the changes.
As a temporary measure, whilst completing the job, I installed two Speedfit Stop Ends. This meant that I could turn the water back on overnight before turning it...

Aqualisa shower drips My aqualisa shower drips when turned off. Reluctant to change the whole cartridge (mechanical Aqualisa Thermostatic Cartridge Grey). I heard that it could be because of worn out washer and one could possibly change, with some difficulty because of restricted access the "O" washer at the back of it. Missing pot from trapped gulley (Brand identification request) Hi Guys,

I have a customer who has had building work done and the pot (if that's what it's called) has gone missing. I believe the builders blocked the drain with debris, removed the insert/pot/grill and the clowns didn't put it straight back and it got dumped with all the other waste on site. Any tips for a non plumber with no pilot light Hi,

Ideal classic boiler has no pilot light.

Home emergency cover is an option, so no huge drama but I wondered if there's anything a non plumber could try.

Tried:

Pushing the button to ignite the pilot light,

Turning off and on the boiler fuse in my Junction box and tried the pilot ignition again,

Turning the thermostat on the boiler to zero and tried the pilot ignition again

Hive thermostat multizone help Can anyone help me. I have just moved house and we have a boiler with a separate hot water tank and then 2 thermostats, one upstair and one down stairs. We want ti fit Hive and I know we need one thermostat and hub to work with a boiler and separate tank however I cannot seem to find the multizone one for sale that we also need. F&e tank vent pipe pouring hot water Hi all

I have an oil fired heating system open vent with an f&e tank we had some problems with air constantly getting into the radiators and one of them doesn’t work at all, the system is quite dirty and have now noticed everytime we use the boiler the vent on the f&e tank is pouring hot water but only when the boiler runs. Is this a sludge problem or trapped air as the tank is really dirty.
