Old mem mcb type

Hi all, anybody come across these mem mcbs. Don't know what type they are. All it has on them is 3871 part 1. Apologies for the picture will upload a better one tommorow. cannot even find anything on Google or eBay.

I am doing some remidials from an eicr. Some exceeded max zs readings on ring mains. But the engineer didn't put a type down and looks like has presumed that these are type 3

I also am seeking a replacement to downrate a circuit

A better picture would be very helpful..
it looks like it could be a qeb or qb not sure...
Also looks like a wylex nb might do, which is the same as the old proteus range..
In the good old days before harmonisation circuit breakers were either BS3871 pt1 or pt2..
We now have 60898 and 60947-2 respectively.
types 1,2,3 and 4 were replaced with types b,c and d..
resistive, res' & inductive, inductive and high ind'..

Please Note..

Icn is marked as Mx.

The new MCBs to 60898 are suitable for isolation where as the older 3871s are unlikely to be suitable...

what evidence do yo need ive seen a picture and ive said they are type 2 have you got any suggestions what type they are why dont you have a look in ya crystal ball have you seen these type mcbs b4

Ahh I see, so none of the MCBs manufactured that look the same were Type 1 or 3s?

no what im saying is they are prity old have a look at 15th edition and see what types there was you might take an educated guess as you seem to know what your talking about generally type 2 was used unless a special install ie a motor circuit then i would of not commented cheers

Nice to see an 'educated' guess when the OP has already pointed out that the circuit involved may have a high Zs. Lucky that wouldn't be in any way hazardous!

Out of interest, are your EICRs that thorough? I wouldn't want to go through such meticulous paperwork, it sounds like hard work.

what you getting at ?thats what ive said type 2 common like type B are now high zs is fine with theses look it up type B whats the max zs type c whats the max zs same as type 1 and type 2 different values today high zs i would use a type B yes are you understanding not a type c
when these mcbs in the photo were made there was the same type 2 common type 1 not common
