I went for a metal clad BG board and all RCBO setup from Electric fix and was very impressed with the quality and price. £127 all in, delivered to my door as well. Which was nice.

I went back there this afternoon, ran in the last smoke detector, got the floor boards back down with those metal plates over the cables, then turned my attention to the consumer unit. Timber frame and plasterboard boxing in, then a bit of filler. It just needs a quick sand and a coat of paint to finish it off. oh, and new tails too.

looks much better than the first pic , am not picking holes but the first pick may have complied with the regs but it looked sh1te , no point making it so neat inside when the outside looked so bad , i work with 2 old joiners sometimes they are slow as f , but they are amazing there work is second to none and there moto is every job is like working on their own house if you wouldnt have it in your own house like that then dont do it in someone elses house , so it may have just been a rented property but someones got to look at it , looks far far better,
now just give it a lick of wite paint and your finished ;-) joke
