I went for a metal clad BG board and all RCBO setup from Electric fix and was very impressed with the quality and price. £127 all in, delivered to my door as well. Which was nice.

Guitarist, with respect, the cables don't have to enter the back as you have suggested. I was merely agreeing for a purely aesthetic perspective, but as I have stated, having looked back through BS7671, my interpretation (as that is all we do with the wording of a non-statutory document) is as I have stated. And that is, as it is, in my opinion, not 'readily accessible', then it needs only meet IP2X.

You can all disagree with me all you want, but I am the designer and installer, and I WILL stand before the judge and tell him, 'your honour - this is what I deemed to be satisfactory in the circumstances, in my position as competent person.'

regards.

Your call mate. As I said, nice install, just my opinion.

Some 100x50 plastic trunking would look good on that and a bit of support to the tails and would be a good job :). Like someone mentioned earlier on with the lid on and people not knowing who you are. I would call that rough. All in my opinion though.

Really? and how would you make that (unnecessary) trunking fit (un-needlessly) around the cables? Rough? Rough? Come on...PLEASE!

I refer back to my & Guitarists points about the cables coming in from behind.
You could have had them clipped direct vertically behind a new board up into the ceiling, which you've already said, needs redoing. No IP arguments, no trunking... happy days!!! :)

I bet if we were all on site discussing this, that there wouldn't have been any frayed tempers!

This is just out of curiosity and not getting at anyone.
What are the regs when you guys mount CU's? Doesn't the CU have to be easily accessible to re-set things?
I work to EN60204 11.2.1 and put most things between 0.4m and 2.0m

Building regs now have a recommended height for new installations. When replacing existing boards, however, it usually has to go where it was.
