hello guys looking for your thoughts on the following

fully rewired a 3 bedroom tenement flat installed completely to the 17th edition wiring regulations issued completion certificate (niceic) i was 100% happy and confident on my job

customer tried to withold money as i hadent clipped any cabling for sockets and switches ,

i explained (yes it would be slightley better finish ) but i had already spoken to plasterer and he was comfortable with the job.

basically the customer made it a complete nightmare as if i had left an unsafe dangerous non compliant job

hyne site should have put clips in but jeez

The only time that the cables wouldn't be adequately supported, and therefore not compliant, would be before the muckchucker went in. I'd be willing to bet that there's not many on here that haven't done this though.
Seems to me the customer is looking for an excuse to shave a few quid off the bill. Set the dogs on them mate.

I don't fully understand the situation here.
When you say you didn't clip the cables, do you mean that you have left them dangling loose in chases? If you have then how on earth can you justify signing off an EIC on this? Regulations require cables to be adequately fixed and supported aswell as protection from foreseeable or expected activities.
If a plasterer is following you he will scrape those unprotected cables with the very sharp edge of his trowel!

Not how I'd have done it but hardly the crime of the century.

If you have already issued a cert then that means the job is finished and the cables are supported by the structure of the building. I.E the plaster, so whats the problem?

Dave and Dave beat me to it I type too slow :)

they are secured within the structure ie plastered over

On the very few domestic rewires i've done for friends & family, i used round 3/4'' conduit direct into back boxes for switches and outlets. That oval stuff will be a nightmare to pull new cables in at a later date!!

I'm surprised you didn't use Pyro. ;)

I'd have no problem with using MICC if money wasn't a problem. ...lol!! I did use MICC on my uncles garage installation though. He used to repair cars as a side line, and one of his customers paid him with a couple of reels of the PVC covered stuff. Can't remember if it included the terminations or we got them...

Galvanised of course...

Nah, just plain ole 3/4'' Plastic conduit... Though i can't remember if i used 1/2'' on the single cable switch drops, on one or two of the rewires....lol!!

Why are we concerned about pulling wire through after Shute be good for next 20 or more years. I take it you are chasing in walls. I am starting to lean to using 32 mm plastic capping for all drop room to fish if need be and plaster fits over nice in 25mm boxes. If it was my own how's I may be tempted but be dead before it need another rewire. The was a article in professional electrician about the effect of dot and dab on cables advising always cap.

I clip straight to the wall, don't cap it then skim it myself. I've no interest in future abilities if pulling cables through, the next person in 30+ years who rewires it should do it properly and start from scratch instead if buggering about fishing cables down pipes.

or the correct clips for the oval tube.

Really can't see why at least a few clips weren't use here. Would save risk of cables swinging about or being caught by someone. Would have cost pence, and only a very small amount of additional time. Seems a bit lazy, or is it just me? Daz

Not so much to do with rewires, more to do with any future alterations/additions and the like...
Fishing or trying to get additional cables down capping and oval pipe, ...well i wish you luck!! lol!!

No, which is silly, I guess they expect you to use the double pole isolator at the start of the circuit to isolate the fan?
