    Triangle Under cupboard lights

I like the sycamore Sirius lights. Very good quality

    Earthing of standby generators

Anymore thoughts on the best place to make the N/E link? As above I’m not convinced the generator itself is the best place. If it gets wheeled off and used for temporary power at a neighbours house or something its probably best to have a ‘floating’earth imo as there probably won’t be a proper...

    Earthing of standby generators

Not a good idea to link earth and neutral in output sockets on generator imo. If it were used elsewhere then you would have the generator casing potentially at a different voltage to true earth as it would still be tied to 'neutral'

    Earthing of standby generators

I've been putting off asking the question on here as I know the can of worms it usually opens! I hope you don't mind me piggybacking onto your thread as it's essentially the same question. I'm being strongarmed into wiring up a generator for my inlaws. I can't really get out of it! They've...

Why you shouldn't let your builder do the wiring...

How about this one on a job a few weeks ago on an eicr at property worth nearly £2M. All driveway lights in t&e through 20mm MDPE pipe. CPCs snipped off. One joint was connected blocks wrapped in tape and silicone direct in the mud. This joint had singles - yes you read that right - going to the...

Is Part Pee fit for purpose / who is policing this scam ???

Well of course it’s better when they have £500 in their sky rocket from said chancer every year.

Anyone walked off a job before or fallen out with a builder?

I now only work for 2 trusted builders. One is absolutely brilliant to work for, the other is pretty good, can be slow paying but never questions my prices and I don’t quote for anything other than the biggest jobs for either of them. A lot of other builders have been told where to go over the...

    London pricing thoughts

I charge around what you do, but work within 5-10 miles of my house in Sussex, and can usually park right outside with no charges or hassle. Central London has to be >£500 a day surely to make it worth the hassle. I’m usually leaving my house at 8 and home before 4.

    London pricing thoughts

Too cheap for London, especially central London.

Very unusual to get a faulty click socket!

Why are some vde torque screwdrivers so expensive ?

Just because there’s no need really. Perhaps if someone were inexperienced, but I’ve got a good feel for it after 20 years. Never had a terminal burn out on me yet.

Does anyone actually use their torque screwdriver?

Best (Or least bad) CPS to join as a sole trader

Should get points for posts on this forum. More learnt here than a lot of these webinars imo. I wouldn’t mind so much jumping through all these hoops if it did something other than just add more costs and bureaucracy to those of us operating legitimately, whilst doing absolutely nothing to...

Best (Or least bad) CPS to join as a sole trader

I’m currently mulling over whether I can be bothered to move from NIC to NAPIT. I find NIC generally unhelpful and their communication is poor. Also they require a full day assessment to be registered with them for commercial works, whereas NAPIT is half day. NAPIT also a little cheaper although...
