3P VFD 1.5 KW motor conveyor

Something I have come across and used recently is 87Hz operation, particularly on small motors like the one in question. Basically running the drive in v/f operation, drive parameters as per nameplate, motor connected in delta rather than star, frequency limit set 87Hz, max power set to 1.7...

Identifying single core cpc's and neutrals

Who benefits from you or your lad taking these risks, however small you might feel they are? Not you I imagine, but the factory will, so why take the risk. I've worked in food and beverage factories for years. The ones I've worked in would run a mile from unsafe practices, and will arrange...

    Interlocking conveyors and motors

I've worked on miles of conveying, carrying bottles, cans, airport baggage, pallets, frozen pies, quarried stone, etc etc and never is it as simple as that. Depending on whats being transported, there will be timers and sensors, and usually a PLC to control it. Anyway, yours may be different.

    125 kva supply cable calc

None of which anybody on this forum knew from your first post. Either way, you seem clear that you need some help to do the required calcs. I would stand your ground with your directors, and get the design of this cable run subbed out.

    125 kva supply cable calc

Surely you must have costed up the job based on the cable required? You need to get somebody to do this calc properly, not just asking on a forum. Where are the building designers/architects in all this?

    SY, CY None Compliant????

Thats because its a control cable, not a power cable. TBH I can't think of a situation where I would spec or accept SY.

    DC Injection brake modules

Nope, but some of us on here do this design stuff for a living, and we follow the correct process mainly because we want to do it right, but also because we don't want to end up on wrong end of an HSE investigation.

    DC Injection brake modules

Have you/somebody done all the design required to show compliance to your required SIL/PL targets determined from the risk assessment? You don't design safety related controls by setting off with a box of red and yellow electrical bits and pieces, that's how YOU end up in court after somebody...

    SY, CY None Compliant????

Poor EMC screening from SY, the braiding is full of holes, and it's supposed to be a control cable, not a power cable.

    Shower Pump install

Why do you want the shower pump to come on with the light and fan? I used to have a shower pump, and I'm 99% sure it had built-in flow switches so it switched itself on when water started flowing i.e when the shower mixer valve was opened. No need for any external switching.

Safety Emergency Stop Relay Schneider XPS-AC

Kind of as per Darkwood's reply, I wouldn't think the extractors need to be on an emergency stop circuit, presume they won't be sucking anybody inside them. Are the burners inside a guarded area/furnace with interlocked doors? Risk assessment is the very first step in this process, anything...

    3 phase motor Question

My advice would be to decline to quote, and suggest they contact a HVAC company.

    Best Relay for a Motor

For clarity, darkwood meant to type 60204, rather than 60402. Everything else is spot on, it might look simple, and no doubt you can get something working, but one day your circuit might not work as you expect. Then somebody might get injured.

    installing socket in shed

I always thought black enamelled conduit was for indoor use, and would expect to see galv used externally.

    Toshiba Tosvert-130 transistor invertor

A quick google says that ST is a terminal on the drive and needs to be connected to CC, which is a common for terminals, for the drive to be released to run. There will be something connected across these terminals, a relay contact from some part of the process or within the panel, and thats...

    Distances between draw-in pits

Is the cost of the civils work at your company's account? If not, then no need to make life hard....70m is a long pull IMHO. Last job I worked on, where we had cables in undergound ducting with drawpits, I would think we had no more than 30m between pits.

    Screening control cables

True, but not uncommon on long conveyors on power stations, quarries etc. We have installed conveyors with 250kW and 355kW LV motors, currents up to 750A, on VSD's. Some long cable runs too, SWA's in parallel, and I've never seen any connected in SY. It would just not be accepted by the customer...

    Screening control cables

SY only goes up to a certain size range though I think, and the voltage rating is 300/500, a lot of customers won't accept that. If you have got big motors on VSD's then what would you use other than 3 core SWA?

    Screening control cables

From some training notes... Some drive manufacturers have recommended specialised cables using one or more braided copper screens. Measurements at Control Techniques have consistently shown that low-cost steel-wire armoured cable, as widely used in the UK, gives equally good results. The...
