    If there is an old water and gas main within a building but it has been capped off would you still run a bond to it as it could still bring potential into the buidling if still connected. I've been told no but i would whos right?? Paul

    They should be in an enclosure, you would have a cable that didn't have sufficent mechnical protection.

    Im aware that were testing to the 17th edition doesn't mean that all earth loop values for old mcb's will be in the 17th.

    could anyone help me with the short circuit capacity and maximum permitted zs of a BS3871 type 2 MCB please. And if using the sheath on a micc cable as cpc what do you put in the cpc mm2, is putting sheath acceptable. Thanks Paul

    tester trouble

    I've got a fluke 1652 and i also have problems with continity testing. I had a NICIEC inspection about a month ago and the inspector said he finds alot of problems with fluke. I had my tester re-calibrated and new batteries put in but can still get dodgy readings. You might have a lead problem...

    Structual steel/ lighitning protection bond

    Thanks for all your replies, i've spoken to our consultant and he's said that main structual steel bond back to MET and bond lighting protection to building and through earth spike at the end of each tape. Thanks again Paul
