in my experience after you install 12v downlighters its usually the push on pin cap lamp connectors that can give the most trouble .
some real cheap and nasty one out there which have weak spring connection making pins on the lamp go black and so they switch off.
can be costly if the jobs some...

went to look at a kitchen upgrade last week needs new cooker circut as she wants dual fuel range cooker fitted and loads of extra sockets so ring needs splitting and extending.
she also wants the flou light changing to 8 12v D/L's

i've had the old bouncing cheque routine , everytime it came back "reffered to draw" kept putting it back in as it costs the them everytime think it was £30 a pop then.

you can export the tncs earthing system to out buildings if the armoured is big enough.
enquired about this a few months ago with regards 20meter 60amp sub main to 1 bed log cabin.
25mm 3 core was suggested along with a Ze at final CU of 0.35ohm or less.

Thought conservatories were not notifiable if you extend or modify circuts.
obviously have to fill out minor works form for each circut you've played with.

go on e-bay gsm silent alarms, guys called jim he's builds em himself,top class service and product cheap too.
i have fitted 4 of these alarms no probs in the last 2 years.
just add sim card , basic system £120 quid

if its a metal back box a little cheapie £20quid metal detector should do the trick as they pick up any metal including the copper ,you should be able to follow it down the wall till it stops at the box if its a vertical drop.
had it meself the other month ,think the room was plastered by stevie...
top tip ,buy a bag of bonding adhesive ,the stuff they use to bond plaster board to block walls.
i use "lafarge" its white & sticks like **** to a blanket.:eek:
rip open top of bag and dump in yer shed/garage.

have to agree tried an M2 from CEF the other day absolute crap ,disconnection times on the rcd's weren't brilliant either.

for wiring a boat you would be better to use tinned copper wire/flex in marine enviroment as bare insulated copper goes black and corrosion wicks up the cable at an alrmimg rate.
your biggest worry is galvanic corrosion of the boats fittings ie seacocks ,anodes etc something to do with stray...
on a job today measured Ze at the main incomer and got 0.50ohm well above the max 0.35ohm for the TNCS supplying the dwelling.
Anyone had any dealings with the supply people regarding sorting it out.
are they usually pretty quick or am i looking at being stuck on the list for weeks.
