    ok being the devils advocate what happens if its a 1.5mm cable? do you install the MCB to protect the socket or cable? This is basic stuff. The overcurrent device has to protect the cable but be suitable for the design current.

    Engineer i have had a few sherbets and i agree! The MCB size relates to the cable size and desigh current not the rating of the outlet!

    I dont think you will find anything about "standown" allowance. The company are paying you without you earning anything for them i would love to be in a situation where the company is that desperate to keep me. In these times keep your head down get a book and be gratefull you have a job.

    well have a quick look at method 2 and if asked you cannot lose marks for drawing it as it is a recognised method. I always have to double check the spikes.

    we got that one in My 2391 but it was just how to test an earth rod. I used method 2 which is basically a ZE on the earth rod far easier then the spikes.

    IMHO it could still be used as an isolator but better as a decoration or scrap value of the cast. and a few pennies for the copper.
