New metal 2 way unit fed from old Plastic 10 way consumer - Ok or not ?

Agree there's no reg but it's often mentioned that this is stipulated by the DNO - is this not the case? This is what I've heard from other people on here but never actually heard it direct.

Is this the end of 6 week wonders? New Domestic Gold Card Apprenticeship announced

So basically, anyone can do electrical work and we just need to hope that those doing it know what they're doing and that's the best we can hope for?

Thought you had to be Part P registered or NICEIC approved contractor etc.?

Is this the end of 6 week wonders? New Domestic Gold Card Apprenticeship announced

I don't do any domestic works so forgive me for asking but what's the current requirement for carrying out domestic works and how does one achieve said requirements?

    poor r1+r2 reading

I don't know you, Buzz, but I've got to be honest I've read a lot of your messages and even some of those made more sense than the OP's first post!

    poor r1+r2 reading

Still really confused... So GP1, GP2, GP3 and GP4 are all seperate fuse boards which you've replaced the feeds to? You've brought someone in to test the cables and they've advised that the cable you've pulled in to feed GP4 DB has an inadequate continuity reading?

    poor r1+r2 reading

I'm confused by what GP stands for?? General power rings? If he has stated there's a poor reading but doesn't have the result, can you not just test the circuit and find out for yourself and come to your own conclusion? He could be wrong?

Is this the end of 6 week wonders? New Domestic Gold Card Apprenticeship announced

6 week courses shouldn't enable someone to carry out electrical work but I bet a lot of people doing the 6 week courses are decent and honest people who have been sold a load of crap but actually believe that it's worth something and at least they've went out of their way to try and gain...

Is this the end of 6 week wonders? New Domestic Gold Card Apprenticeship announced

From my experience, everyone carrying out electrical work who shouldn't be hasn't even been on one of these 6 week courses you're talking about. They're just handymen who think they can do it but they couldn't be more wrong

Not having a card might stop commercial electrical firms employing you but just like domestics, there will always be people carrying out commercial work who shouldn't be.

A lot of SP Henley blocks seem to only have one knockout for a screw meaning they've always got potential to spin .. poor design. Why only one circuit per hole with the 20mm knockouts?

New metal 2 way unit fed from old Plastic 10 way consumer - Ok or not ?

Do you provide an isolator for each new board you add in? Or if there's already one fitted after the meter do you use this to feed the Henley blocks first which in turn feed both boards?

New metal 2 way unit fed from old Plastic 10 way consumer - Ok or not ?

If the meter tails to the plastic DB were 3m long and then you fed another board from the supply terminals of the main switch in the plastic board, could this been seen as having the meter tails being longer than the 3m recommendation from the DNO?

how to detect easily damaged cable under floorboards

I wouldn't take the mick! People are buying "memes" these days just to say they own them so I wouldn't put it past anyone to sell a YouTube video. Ridiculous. Some people have too much money!
