Hi Dtod
I done the HNC but after the ONC (did the JIB electricians prior to this)luckily I done day release and the company i worked for payed all the fees.
Was doing industrial work like commissioning control panels and both were really useful courses. Dont think i could to the HNC without the...
Hi Daz
Used to do a load of motor circuits years ago similar to what u describe. From memory star delta starting limits the start current to approx 5x the running current, so all the figures seem correct. And it is per phase. The cable size and fuse protection never took the full starting...
Hi gokl,
Does the machine have a control panel with contactors relays etc?
If so it will likely have a transformer for a control circuit, this transformer will likely be permantly
live when isolator is on,depending on voltage of the control circuit u should be able to wire a light from this...
Hi Thomps,
All the din mounted earth terminals i have used have continuity to the din rail, so im pretty sure the ones you are considering will also!
Just use the standard ones, you can get small earth labels that clip on if you are concerned.
I done an apprenticeship in the mid 80s , JIB had what you have 236, 1&2 , AM1 and AM2 , on completion I was also given
a NVQ level 3 certificate (that i wasnt expecting) in addition to the JIB electricians cert, so im guessing it is equivalent (or was).
Hi Michael
If you mean "electrical Engineer" opposed to an electrician then you really need an electrical engineering degree (minimum)
preferably from a university that has accredited courses with the IET. This would take quite a while part time!
There is another possibility of an engineering...
Hi Glyn
Whatever you choose try and ensure that you get a good engineering qualification along the way, and dont rely on experience.
A good choice to start with will be an ONC/OND in electrical engineering and then the HNC or what the modern equivalent is!
These are available on day release so...
Hi Omega
As mentioned by Darkwood the unit has a volt free relay output. The SW connection is for connecting a momentary switch (if required) to energise the relay output in the same manner that detection would.
However, this facility is disabled on shipping so can be ignored if not required...
Hi Dave,
The easiest solution would be to use 5A junction boxes to safely terminate the cables. You would only have to drill a fixing hole or maybe you might be able to use one of the existing fixing holes. You should be able to do this yourself if you managed to fix the wall lights yourself...
