Quite organic really. It just so happens that even when I officially was pensionable I carried on working. However a few years after (current) I just cannot get up the slightest enthusiasm to do any work for anyone else. The real change is income in fact, it is going to take some jiggling with...
As I have retired now (really!) I have decided to sell my electrical tools etc. They include hand tools, hilmor galv. conduit bender 20/32 with threading tools, crimpers bootlace, crimps etc, you know most tools you would have to have to do the job basically. If you have any interest in...
Recently did a job with new building techniques, at least to my experience. Dropped ceiling and metal studs in wals and ceiling. Insulation in ceiling/walls. Around 100mm space above plasterboard ceiling. The original ceiling also had 100mm insulation directly above. Now putting wires above...
Fortunately or otherwise I did the 2391 at a point where there were six written questions/answers. I understand that the 2391 (original)
had a pass rate of 30%. Think i just passed. I heard stories of people not attending the exam in large numbers due to the difficulty of it. As colleges had...
Looks like a single channel switch will do, just on off for theboiler. Suggest Danfoss TPone and RX1 receiver (screwfix do them) Get the RF version so no wiring. I am not sure if you have that already. If you have, sure the batteries aint dead? Or if mains supplied then is there a supply?
It is likely the two red, and earth, each stay together (E + Red separate!) and the remaining two wires are your Neutral and switched Live. This would need to be confirmed with test equipment. I would say DONT put them together or you will be in the Big Bang method of wiring system.
Recently had to buy Steel for kitchen extension, sadly 6 cm short. Had to buy another one. Anyone wanna buy a spare I beam? This was due to original measurement inner wall to inner wall changed as the brickwork was leveled up, it was leaning in originally. £30 per cm mistake.
Hi picked up a KT63 tester cheap for trainee to practice testing but need the piggy back lead. If you have one great, and prepared to part with it on any reasonable terms even better, pm me?
Yeh this is a new one on me, but my annual was just a couple of months ago and it did suddenly change after I have booked the assessment they got in touch, so must be very recent! Which is no problem for me, just saying..
Regards the assessment, if you know your stuff you will be absolutely fine. I was asked the calcs for ring circuit for instance. There are questions on regs, sometimes off the beaten path like swimming pools, or caravan parks. You are given time if it is something you rarely do to look at the...
I think check the regs. If I am reading you right I think you are getting at the need (?) for SPD which if it is domestic there is no particular part of the regs which insists on it. On the cert I would be inclined to note SPD was offered and the client has declined as you might. I presume you...
Recently that has changed, you need to supply three addresses for them to randomly choose a job to inspect. So you need three jobs now. If you are just joining I suppose you have produced all your qualifications. They may want to look at them again. They did with me. It has got a lot stricter...
The worst thing to discover having already cut into the plaster board is that there is a stud going horizontal/vertical in the way. It can help to use a detector around the area you intend to cut to eliminate this as once cut....
I use a laser to line up the boxes and mark before cutting
